Butter Chicken(Murgh Makhani)

 What is Butter Chicken?

Butter chicken is an Indian dish that can be called Murgh Makhani. Butter Chicken is a chicken curry made from tomato, butter &  cream.

Who made butter chicken?

It was made in 1950 by Kundan Lal Gujral, an Indian chef and restaurateur.

What do you need?

Ingredients for marination:

1 kg chicken
6 tbsp yogurt
1+1 tbsp ginger garlic paste
1 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
1 tsp salt

Ingredients for gravy:

4 medium size tomato
3 medium size onion
1tbsp garlic paste
25 cashews
5 tbsp fresh cream
4-5 tbsp green coriander leaves
1 tsp garam masala powder
1 tbsp roasted kasuri methi
1 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp salt
50 gm butter
6-7 tbsp oil

How to do ??

• Transfer yogurt,ginger garlic paste,salt & red chilli powder into the chicken, mix well.

• Keep it for marination for about 1/2 an hour.

How to make gravy:

• Heat a pan, add oil & 1/2 butter, add chopped onions,fry it for 2-3 minutes till it becomes soft.

• Add tomatoes, cashews, garlic & powdered spices.fry it for 3-4 minutes.

• Add little water & half coriander leaves, cover it & cook for 5-7 minutes.

• Turn off the flame & take it off into a plate & let it cool.

• Heat another pan, add 2 tbsp oil then add marinated chicken & fry it.

• Cover it with a lid & cook for 8-10 minutes.

• Turn the flame high & cook till it's water gets completely dry.

Meanwhile, blend the mixture into a blender, make a fine paste.

• Fry the chicken till it gets nice grill marks.

• Transfer the paste into the same pan, mix well.

• Add fried chicken, mix well.

• Add garam masala powder & roasted kasuri methi.

• Add 1tbsp tomato ketchup.

• Add cream.

• Add butter.

• Add 100 ml of water, bring a boil,cover it with a lid & cook for 10 min.

• Garnish it with coriander leaves, turn off the flame.
